A caliber-correct cleaning kit built for real use at home or in the field—without hauling a full bench setup. This kit is designed for .223 Rem / 5.56 NATO firearms and includes the core tools you actually need: a Bore Boss braided mop for quick pull-through cleaning, a T-handle for better control, brushes/jags for proper scrubbing and patching, plus detail tools for the small, dirty corners that cause problems.
What it’s for:
- Routine bore and chamber-area cleaning for .223/5.56 firearms
- Range-bag and field maintenance when you want a complete kit that stays organized
- Removing carbon, powder fouling, and grime that builds up with training, plinking, or suppressed shooting
- Detail cleaning small areas where gunk hides (rails, recesses, tight corners, and hard-to-reach spots)
What’s included:
- Bore Boss braided mop (quick pull-through bore cleaning)
- T-handle (improves control and leverage while cleaning)
- Brass and nylon brushes (scrub without being a finish-destroying animal)
- Mop (bore wipe-down)
- Jag
- Patch holder
- Detailing pick
- Narrow brush
- Diamond-shaped brush
Fitment
- Fits: firearms chambered in .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO
Tools needed
- Cleaning solvent (recommended for carbon/fouling)
- Light oil for corrosion protection after cleaning
- Rag/paper towels for wipe-down
Install notes
- Clear the firearm completely before cleaning—mag out, chamber checked, no shortcuts.
- Chamber-to-muzzle is best when possible for control and to protect the crown.
- Brush choice: use nylon for lighter cleaning and finish-friendly scrubbing; step to brass when fouling is stubborn.
- Patches: run solvent patches first, then dry patches until they come out mostly clean—don’t leave the bore swimming in solvent.
- Detail tools: use the pick/brushes to break up carbon in tight recesses—controlled pressure, no gouging.
- Finish smart: wipe off excess solvent and apply a light protective oil where appropriate—avoid over-oiling the chamber.
