Real Avid — 9mm Handgun Cleaning Kit (Prime-9)
This is a purpose-built 9mm handgun cleaning + detailing kit that’s actually organized like a real tool kit—everything locks into a compact “butterfly” case that lays flat on the bench. No rattling junk drawer energy. You get the bore tools for proper barrel cleaning, plus brushes/picks for the slide, breech face, extractor area, rails, and all the nasty corners most people ignore.
Fitment
- Designed for 9mm (9x19 / 9mm Luger) handgun cleaning and maintenance.
- Includes a cleaning rod, bore brush(es), bore mop, jag + slotted tip, patches, detailing brushes, and non-marring picks—stored in a stand-up case.
Does NOT fit
- Not intended for .45 ACP, .40 S&W, 10mm, .380, or rifle calibers—use the correct caliber kit so you’re not forcing the wrong brush/patch through the bore.
- Not a substitute for a full armorer setup (vise blocks, torque tools, specialty wrenches). This is cleaning + detailing, not a full build bench.
Tools needed
- Bore solvent/cleaner (your preference)
- Lubricant / protectant oil
- Rag or shop towels
- Optional: a nylon mat or bench block to keep small parts from skating off the table
Install notes
- Start smart: run a dry patch first to pull loose grit out before you start scrubbing (less chance of dragging abrasives around).
- Bore cleaning: solvent + brush strokes, then patches until they come out clean-ish. Finish with a very light oil patch if the gun’s going into storage.
- Detailing where it matters: use the small brushes and resin picks around the extractor claw, breech face, slide rails, feed ramp area, and under the ejector—this is where reliability problems breed.
- Don’t over-lube: a thin film on wear surfaces beats “wet gun” puddles that collect carbon and lint.
- Quick reliability check: after reassembly, do a basic function check (rack, reset feel, safety features) before it goes back in rotation.
