AK Platform Forge Files
Compatibility, magazines, ammunition, optics, sights, recoil, gas systems, triggers, furniture, maintenance, buying inspections, common failures, and practical AK troubleshooting built around the rifle you actually own.
Compatibility | Reliability | Ammo | Optics | Tuning | Maintenance
“AK” describes a family — not one universal rifle.
AKM, AK-74, AK-100-series, Yugo/M70, milled, RPK-pattern and other Kalashnikov-family rifles use different magazines, furniture, optic interfaces, muzzle threads and internal geometry. Identify the rifle first. Then verify the part, diagnose the problem, or build the upgrade around the system you actually own.
Know the pattern before you buy the part.

Ammo & Magazines▾
Cartridge families, magazine fitment, feeding geometry and how the ammo stack interacts with the operating system.
Buying & Compatibility▾
Start here before buying the rifle or the parts. AK pattern matters.
Furniture & Ergonomics▾
Stocks, handguards, grips, folding systems, balance and fitting the rifle to the shooter without ignoring pattern compatibility.
Issues & Solutions▾
Start with the exact failure point. Feeding, chambering, locking, extraction and ejection are related — but they are not the same malfunction.
Maintenance & Wear▾
Cleaning, lubrication, corrosion control, normal mating wear and the signs that something is actually wrong.
Optics & Sights▾
Mounting interfaces, optic height, iron sights, zeroing and keeping the sighting system attached to something that actually stays put.
Recoil, Gas & Muzzle▾
Gas-system behavior, carrier velocity, recoil management, muzzle devices, suppressor effects and tuning the operating system as a whole.
Triggers & Controls▾
Fire-control geometry, reset, trigger feel, slap, aftermarket fitment and function verification.
The IronKells Standard
Manufacturer documentation establishes the factory baseline.
It does not automatically answer every real-world fitment, tuning, reliability or aftermarket question.
Forge Files combine factory documentation, technical standards, credible testing, documented failure modes, experienced armorer and shooter knowledge, and IronKells hands-on observations when we actually have them.
Useful firsthand experience stays in the conversation. We correct it when strong evidence proves something wrong—not merely because the factory manual didn't discuss the modification.
Magazine presentation affects feeding. Ammunition affects cycling. Gas affects carrier velocity. Carrier velocity affects extraction and ejection. Recoil springs work in both directions. Furniture changes how the shooter controls the rifle. Optic height changes stock fit.
The rifle is a system. The Forge treats it like one.
New AK Forge Files get added when a subject has enough technical substance to deserve its own reference — not just to make the hub look full.
