The goal is not to replace one oversimplification with another. We look at the mechanics, testing, published documentation, physics, law where applicable and real-world experience behind the claim. If the answer is “it depends,” the article should tell you what it depends on.
A good GunBusters article does more than slap FALSE on a claim. It explains where the claim came from, what part is true, what part is wrong, what conditions change the answer, and what evidence actually supports the conclusion.
