Ammo & Function
Ammunition compatibility, bullet design, cartridge geometry, pressure, primers, feeding, chambering, cycling, extraction, and understanding when the ammunition is actually the problem — and when it isn't.
Ammunition | Pressure | Feeding | Ignition | Cycling | Storage
The ammunition is part of the operating system.
A semi-automatic firearm has to strip a cartridge from the magazine, feed it, chamber it, lock, ignite it, contain pressure, cycle, extract, eject, reset and feed the next round. Ammunition influences nearly every step — but magazines, springs, extractors, chambers, recoil systems, compensators, suppressors, fouling and the gun's configuration can create the same symptoms.
Is the ammunition causing the malfunction, exposing another problem, or simply getting blamed for a gun that is already out of balance?
Current Platform Ammo Guides
If you're troubleshooting or selecting ammunition for a specific platform, start with the guide written around that gun instead of forcing one universal answer onto every firearm.

Ammo Explodes in a FireFollow the Function Chain
Is the cartridge held at the right height and angle with enough spring control?
Does the cartridge move cleanly toward the chamber?
Does it fully chamber and allow the firearm to reach battery or lock?
Does the firing system deliver enough energy, and what does the primer symptom really show?
Does the action receive enough usable energy to complete the cycle?
Does the fired case leave the chamber and clear before the next feed cycle?
When cartridge dimensions, pressure classifications, chamber relationships or ammunition terminology matter, the Forge starts with recognized technical standards such as SAAMI plus firearm and ammunition manufacturer documentation — not forum folklore.
The IronKells Standard
Recognized technical standards, firearm manuals and ammunition-manufacturer documentation establish the baseline.
From there, Forge Files compare technical testing, documented failure modes, reputable armorer/gunsmith experience, real-world reports and IronKells observations when we actually have them. A documented specification is labeled as one. A recurring real-world observation stays an observation. Mixed or firearm-specific evidence gets called mixed or firearm-specific instead of being flattened into a universal rule.
